Timed assessment as the Makeup Artist

For my assessment Rachel was in on time and I had my equipment ready for he she did bring in some mixing mediums that I needed to use on this look because I did not have any at all. First I had to flatten her brows brushing her hair towards her forehead because Rachel had very thick brows. Then I primed the skin, for her foundation I had to create an ombre effect where her foundation went from light to dark. This was a little challenege as it took alot of blending and the effect of it wiould wither turn too light or dark so getting the medium colour was a little bit of a challenge during the assessment as its got to do with how much you mix of the different shades of foundation it can easily go wrong. Then for her blusher was bright but extended above to her eyebrows and for her lips I used 4 different colours to create a nice shaded lips. I used a Purple colour then i used a darker purple nar the bottom of her lips thenfor edges I used a black lip colour from Mac to shade in the edges and for the centre I used a shiny light purple lip colour.

It was very fun working with Rachel because she had met up for me to practice her looks even though it had changed many times and i helped develop her idea as well on our little journey I was quite proud of how we both achieved better. Rachels final design was not too difficult at all even though the base was a bit of a challenge and getting the ombre effect I found a little challenging this help develop a new skill of blending diffeent shades together. Rachel came in to the assessment with her design plan she did not have notes but it was not needed as we had practiced so much that I knew the design off the back of my hand and her face chart wasnt that clear but when she explained it to me when we first practiced i then totally understood.

I am pretty happy with the resaults of my makeup images I just think there are areas I need to work on like the eyebrows need to be hidden more I did have touble lining her lips equally in the beginning but I am proud I have managed to get it looking more even in my assessment I really enjoyed this unit and it taught me new type of makeup looks then the same old iconic winged eyeliner and red lips.
