Taming the shrew is a movie based on Shakespeare's Play this movie is a romantic comedy. It is about a woman who is in charge and in control she is in a very high position but she has a nasty attitude. In order to become president of London she had to be married. This reminds me off the Elizabethan era as Queen Elizabeth I was required to be married in order to be a propper Queen. Her outfit was a contemporary version of an Elizabethan dress an corseted in top and the skirt making her hips look big. This movie really shows us about, love, beauty, gender, marriage and control. She was known as the ugly sister where nobody would date her because she had a nasty attitude and would not let any one near her, she would physically attack and degrade other people who those tried to even talk back to her. Her family and work did wish for her to get married but i think nobody believed that she would be able to get married as she was not as beautiful as her sister Jaymie. Then things changed when Petruchio came along in her life who kind of forced him self on her she denied him at first but she rejected him he actually wanted to get married to a rich woman so he wouldn't loose the family house and then he set himself a mission to tame Kate the shrew. Its funny how he treated her at first he was all nice and tried to lure her in when he proposed and she agreed to get married to him then she changed in to this whole different person where he could not change his way any more and he had to show her the truth this took me off guard when he appeared at the wedding all dressed like a woman he did not even give her much time to react just grabbed her arm and married her then they left for their honey moon and from there he was treating her pretty much like shit. Is funny how after everything her whole attitude had calm down and she turned in to some one beautiful calm and happy. Kate independence and her position was very much like Elizabeth because she showed power but in order for Kate she had to be married where they tried to get the Queen married but she ended up marrying her country but that independent role and having power is very similar. I noticed in the movie they would wear colours that represent royalty like when Petruchio wore that purple gown which is a royal colour that represents royalty and when Kate wore a nice emerald green that represented royalty as well as we all know those colours are of the royals.
